It was a super hit when it released in its black and white avatar in 1971. Now the film Kasturi Nivas that starred Rajkumar is hoping to have the same impact when it will be screened in colour.

Distributor KCN Mohan, who has turned producer for the new version, says, “Kasturi Nivasa is one of Rajkumar’s successful films and so we thought that today’s generation should get to watch it.

With the story itself being so colourful, our attempt is at enhancing the experience by converting it into a colour film. The entire process has been done in Bangalore - it is a tedious job as you have to work frame-by-frame. We hope to release the film on Rajkumar’s birthday, April 24.”

Meanwhile, the producers are are also planning to come out with a different version of Rajkumar’s Babruvahana. “We are thinking of converting into a 3D film. This will happen only after Kasturi Nivas releases,” said Mohan.

Rajkumar’s Satya Harishchandra was the first of his films to be converted to colour.
