This Christmas season will see the Big M’s of Malayalam cinema clashing once again in the box office with two of their biggies all set to hit the screens in December last week. Mammootty starrer ‘Chattambinadu’ and Mohanlal’s ‘Ividam Swargamanu’ are expected to be the hot favourites for families this vacation.

‘Chattambinadu’ will be released on the eve of Christmas, while ‘Ividam Swargamanu’ will hit cinemas on Christmas Day. ‘Ividam Swargamanu’, produced by Mohanlal’s hatchet man Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Ashirvad Cinemas, will be distributed by his own production company Maxlab while, Mammootty’s home production house, ‘Playhouse’ will distribute ‘Chattambinadu.

It will be the first battle between the superstars of Mollywood as producer and distributor.

Directed by Shafi, ‘Chattambinadu’ is expected to be a typical mass masala entertainer, Scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam, the film is studded with a huge star cast, including Manoj K Jayan, Sidhique, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vinu Mohan, Salim Kumar, Lakshmi Rai and Mythili.

Keeping the hopes of seeing Mohanlal as a down-to-earth character alive, Roshan Andrews has come up with ‘Ividam Swargamanu.’ James Albert who penned the super duper hit ‘Classmates’ scripts the movie.

The film also has a superb cast including Sreenivasan, Lalu Alex, Shankar, Thilakan and Lakshmi Rai. Vijay’s Tamil movie Vettakkaran, James Cameron’s 3D movie Avatar, Mammootty’s ‘Palerimanikyam oru Pathirakkolapathakathinte Katha’ and ‘Pazhassi Raja’ and ‘Gulumal’ will also continue to run during the Christmas season.
