Shaji Kailas' 'Simhasanam' arrives on Friday

‘Simhasanam’ brings together the Shaji Kailas - Prithviraj team for the first time and explores the theme of a father-son relationship.

‘Simhasanam’ that brings together the maker of hard hitting thrillers Shaji Kailas and Prithviraj for the very first time will hit the theatres on Friday. Shaji, who is back after the debacle of ‘The King and the Commissioner,’ has also penned the script of the film. The release of ‘Simhasanam’, which was announced earlier, was postponed by a few months for various reasons. Prithviraj’s  earlier venture with Shaji, ‘Reghupathy Raghava Rajaram’ got shelved as the film ran into financial difficulties.

Coming to their latest, ‘Simhasanam’ was mostly shot in Varikkassery Mana at Ottappalam that happens to be one of the Shaji’s favourite locations. The film explores the deep bond shared between a father and his son. The story revolves around Madhavan Nair (Sai Kumar), a much respected figure, who has the final say on all matters related to his family and village. But his sudden death leaves a void. That’s when his son Arjun (Prithviraj),takes over the reigns. The ensuing events form the crux of the film. One of the two female leads in the film is Vandana Menon,a familiar face with her films ‘Happy Husbands’ and ‘Ulakam Chuttum Valiban.’ The other heroine is Aishwarya Devan, known for her Tamil movie ‘Yuvan’. This will be her first Malayalam film. While Vandana acts as a village belle in the film, Aishwarya appears as a modern girl. Thilakan, Siddique, Maniyanpilla Raju, Kunjan and Manikuttan will also be seen in important roles.

The music of ‘Simhasanam’ is by Bijipal and background score is by Rajamani. Saravanan has cranked the camera for the film. The movie is produced by Chandrakumar under the banner of Malavika productions.
