Haridas’ Green Apple is a family entertainer that revolves around a young couple
A reel out of real life

It’s pouring down in the premises of the Lions Club Hall in Kozhikode and the road in front is jam packed with vehicles. But the atmosphere inside is all jubilant as if a lavish wedding ceremony is on and that exactly is the day’s concluding shot in Haridas’ Green Apple. The hall is filled to the brim with wedding guests clad in colourful costumes and in the midst sits Kaniha wearing a very casual jeans and kurti.

“We are filming a marriage which my character along with her husband attends,” says Kaniha. Just as the actress starts talking about Abhirami, her character in the film, her two-year-old son Rishi Sai comes rushing with a toy crocodile to scare his mom. “He is too naughty these days shocking me every now and then. I just can’t afford to take my eyes off him,” she smiles.

With balloons and decorative papers all around him Rishi seems be on a roll.  “Amma keeps good care of Rishi, but I don’t want to miss him. Plus I don’t want to loose my films either. Hence I bring him to locations. Somehow I believe that the busy schedule of a women is no excuse for sending the kid to a day care or keeping him under someone else’s supervision. At the end of the day what counts is how brilliantly you have created the equilibrium between your career and the family,” says the engineer-turned-model- turned-actress who has essayed diverse roles in a short time span.

For Green Apple she will be sharing screen with Tini Tom.

The actress says Abhirami is so much like her and every other women of today. “The movie shows how the loyal wife and young mother handles a difficult situation that creeps into her life,” she says. The actress adds that the character is definitely going to be one of the best in her career. “We hardly get such interesting roles. Basically I enjoy doing romantic movies, you get so much to behave in such films. Though Green Apple is a family based film, it comes within my comfort zone.”

Haridas, the director of the film nods in agreement and adds that Green Apple is a complete family entertainer. “It’s about a young couple struggling to meet up the standards of a decent metro life after a love marriage. The complications that arise in their humble life post the entry of a rich man forms the crux of the plot,” says Haridas who had directed films like Georgekutty c/o Georgekutty and Vadhu Doctoranu.

Tini Tom who plays Leo in Green Apple says he is equally thrilled. “This is my fifth movie as the hero and Leo is a very promising role. I had denied many offers because they didn’t offer me anything interesting to perform. But Leo is a genuine character,” he says.

The movie also stars Prathap Pothen playing a crucial character along with Praveena. K P Sunil has handled the script and screenplay. Ouseppachan has lend the background score. Green Apple will hit theatres during Onam.
