Ace actor Madhu will receive the Basheer Puraskaram at Changampuzha Samskarika Kendram, Edappally, on September 27. The Basheer Puraskaram, instituted by Pravasi Doha, will be presented to him by renowned Malayalam writer and the patron of the organisation, M T Vasudevan Nair, on October 4 at 6.30 pm.
Fabi Basheer, Prof M A Rahman, Sunil P Ilayidam, K K Sudhakaran, Tony Alappatt, Dominic Chandran and K Balachandran will attend the function. Pravasi Doha is a socio-cultural, literary and charitable organisation of Keralites in Qatar, which has been giving the award annually since 1995. It was instituted in the memory of the famous Malayalam writer Vaikom Muhammad Basheer.
Kovilan, Njeralathu Rama Poduval, EMS Namboodiripad, Nilambur Ayisha, Sugathakumari, VKN, Dr M Leelavathi, Kadammanitta Ramakrishnan, U R Ananthamurthy were some of the few personalities who have won the award in the past.
