Panning the Life Onscreen in Iniyum Ethra Dhooram

A simple rustic movie with the goodness of familial ties hits the screens this Friday. The film titled Iniyum Ethra Dhooram narrates the real life story of Rajagopal, a man who has struggled throughout his life to support his ailing wife and children. A unique feature of the outing is that Rajagopal himself has donned the garb of the protagonist in the film. Actress Ambika Mohan does the role of the lead lady in the film. Seasoned actor Madhu also plays a major role.

“This film is an eye-opener to our society where the divorce rate is on a high. The life of Rajagopal is an inspiration. His wife was mentally unstable from the beginning of their marriage. But the man nursed her, and stood with her during the ups and downs of their life,” narrates Roy Thaikkadan, the script writer of the film.

Interestingly, the story has been written by Raji, Rajagopalan’s daughter. Debutant director P R Krishna is directing the movie.

Speaking more about  the life of Rajagopal, Roy says, “The man was initially in penury, and did meager jobs to support his family. He had juggled between many vocations. Now the man who is into real estate is really well off, but his affection for his ailing wife remains the same.” The story of the family caught the attention of Das Vadakkancherry who came forward to shell out money to bring out this inspiring story.

Rajagopal has no previous experience in acting, but the scenarist says he could carry the role well. “Since it is his story itself, Rajagopal lived himself onscreen,” says Roy. He says that the reality of the subject and the values that it highlights prompted the team to take up the project.

The shooting took place at the locations of Palakkad like Nenmara and Vadakkanchery. “Ambika Mohan visited Rajagopal’s  wife in order don the role of Usha, to perfection,” says Roy.

Seema G Nair, Shanta Kumari and Sanal Sen are the other actors. Madhu’s character plays the turning point in Rajagopal’s life. Pratheesh Nenmara handles the camera.

The film has four songs. Debut music director Shaji Kumar has penned the lyrics and composed music. G Venugopal, Vani Jayaram, B Arundathi, Sreekanth Hariharan, Charu Hariharan, Manakkad Gopan, Prameela and Komiyoor Pramod are the singers. The film is produced under the banner of Big MM Productions
