The curious story of Sunny Wayne

Has a character ever been named ‘Katha’ (story) in a movie? Could it be because there is a stranger-than-fiction scenario waiting to unfold? Sunny Wayne dons the role of a mysterious stranger who calls himself ‘Katha’ in the upcoming film ‘Gold Coins’ directed by Pramod  Gopal. “In the film, Sunny Wayne says that he would rather be a story since life is too short. His character is an interesting one,” says debutant director Pramod.

Waiving off popular opinion that ‘Gold Coins’ is a children’s film, he says, “The script required the presence of children, but it cannot be classified as a children’s movie.”
“The story revolves around two little children who chance upon a gift that does not belong to them. Their search for the owner takes them from their quaint village to the city, where they find helping hands,” elaborates Pramod.

“Along with Meera Nandan and Tessa, who essay important roles in the film, a bunch of children have just lighted up the screens. There are over 10 children who crack us up in the first half, and the second half is taken over by four young artists. They are all delightful; in particular, Master Vasudev and Master Gopal,” states Pramod. Sujith Sankar is another character to watch out. The suave actor who has made quite a mark for himself with ‘Njan Steve Lopez’ and ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’ has a small but impactful role. “He is called ‘Avan’ (the pronoun he) as I did not want to attach any connotations to his name since he is the menace-maker,” says the director.

Sai Kumar and Joy Mathew and Anil Nedumangad are other prominent faces in the film. “I’m also introducing two new faces; Amar Ramachandran, who is a gynaecologist and medical professor by profession plays a ‘porotta maker’ in the film. He has done his part exceptionally well. Neha Amar is yet another fresh face whose performance in the film is commendable,” details Pramod.
With the shooting almost completed, the film is slated for an early January release.
