THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Dileep has filed a complaint before State Police chief Loknath Behera, seeking action against the alleged cyber attacks and rumours, linking him to the attack on a South Indian actress in a moving vehicle in Kochi.

The actor, who has been subjected to abusive comments and trolls on social media after the incident has sent the complaint via e-mail to the DGP on Friday.

In the complaint, the actor pointed out that he was being targeted and abused as the mastermind behind the assault by a section of people on social media, including Facebook and Whatsapp .

The DGP is likely to hand over the complaint to the Hi-tech cell of Kerala police to initiate a probe.

Dileep has been targeted by the social media for the last seven days as a section of media, including  prominent

Malayalam dailies, reported that a ' prominent actor from Aluva' was quizzed by the police in connection with the attack.

Following this, Dileep had to come out in open that he was not the actor which the media was pointing out.

"Some have mentioned my name. Others have referred to me as ‘a prominent actor living in Aluva.’ This, I suspect, was done to create a smokescreen about me, given that I fit the description - live in Aluva and one am among the prominent actors,’ he had told Express.

It is widely circulated on social media that Dileep had a role in the attack following enmity with the actress.

Earlier, Riyas Khan, chairman of Dileep Fans and Welfare Association, had also filed a complaint with the Cyber Cell and the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner, following a deluge of messages with his photo  highlighted in red circle and titled ‘pulsar Suni with actor Dileep’ on social media.
