Sreenivasan croons for Ayal Sasi

It seems Sreenivasan-starrer Ayal Sasi is creating quite a buzz of late. The film was in the news when he lost nearly 15 kilos to play the titular character, the 65-year-old Sasi. Now the actor has crooned a track, his first as playback singer, for the film directed by Sajin Babu. “The Akkana Thikkana song has a strong folk flavour, it’s more like a rhythmic conversation,” says Sajin.

Sasi pattu, the first song of the film rendered by his son Vineeth Sreenivasan, was an instant hit. Sajin says the senior actor agreed to try playback singing because of the carefree style of the song. “You don’t have to be a vocalist to sing Akkana Thikkana. It’s a very simple track his character sings during a booze party. The lyrics were penned by Vinaya Kumar V,” he says.

Ayal Sasi is Sajin’s next after the critically-acclaimed Asthamayam Vare and Sreenivasan plays Sasi, a con artist in the film. “The film is basically a light, humorous take on  certain issues. It’s a satire woven around the character played by Sreenivasan.

The film follows Sasi and his friends in turn exploring some socially relevant themes,” he says. The film, shot in and around Thiruvananthapuram, also stars  Kochu Preman, Rajesh Sharma and Divya Gopinath in key roles. Ayal Sasi, produced by P Sukumar and Sudhish Pillai, is expected to hit screens next month.
