Akku Akbar’s Perinoraal  goes on the floors

Director Akku Akbar’s next Perinoraal, which has Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead, went on the floors on Friday.

Director Akku Akbar’s next Perinoraal, which has Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead, went on the floors on Friday. The film will be a realistic take on people living in the Gulf, who are unable to return to their homeland.

Suraj, who last played the lead in Perariyathavar, which won him the national award, will be seen as a Salala-based farmer who could not return to Kerala for 20 years. The director says that Suraj will turn off his comical side and play a serious role.

“Immanuel, played by Suraj, is stuck in Salala with his Sri Lankan wife and child. He turns to farming since he has no other means of livelihood. His plight is reported by a news channel and efforts are soon made to send him home at the earliest.

However, when he arrives, he feels lost,” says the director, who is known for films like Veruthe Oru Bharya.

It was Suraj’s depiction of a helpless father in Action Hero Biju, which pushed Akku to consider Suraj for the lead. “Suraj gave a powerful performance in the movie even though he had very little screen time. Suddenly, he was my only choice,” says the director.

Sudheer Karamana will play a policeman and the film will be shot in Thodupuzha and Salala. Basheer, along with Akku Akbar, scripted the movie, while Jemin Cyriac has written the dialogues. Hesham Abdul Wahab is the music composer.
