‘Marriage won’t affect my stint in cinema’

Shruthy Menon will next be seen playing a vendor in Chippy

Mollywood knew Shruthy Menon is here to stay, thanks to her intense  portrayal of Anitha, a research student in Kismath. Well, she will be back playing another serious role, that of a village girl in Pradeep Chokli’s  Chippy.

The dusky beauty, who was a successful model before turning into acting, says one can see her in a slew of characters this year.“I have just wrapped up Chippy. I play a bold and self-made woman who is a roadside vendor. She is someone who fights a lot of male gaze, but remains spirited and strong. The movie is focused around a few kids who want to make a movie and her relation with these kids,” says Shruthy. She adds that Chippy is a feel good movie that gave her a lot of scope to perform.
But, doesn’t she want to experiment with light-hearted entertainers?  “Yes, I think most characters that come to me are very serious ones. As an actor, I  want to do different roles. Naturally, a bubbly role is definitely on my list,” says the actor.
However, Shruthy says acting was not something she went looking for, but one that fell on her lap. “I was doing well as a model. Then, when acting happened, I loved it and I started having fun doing that,” she adds.

Now, that she is engaged, Shruthy thinks it won’t affect her career in any way. “Marriage is a natural progression in one’s life. It won’t affect my career in movies in anyway. I don’t think being wed to a person affects your work,” Shruthy says.
So, when will the marriage happen? “We havent’ decided on the dates. I have a few work commitments pending. So, nothing has been decided yet,” she winds up.
