It's the tale of a dream-come-true. Vimaanam, with Prithviraj in the lead, is about how Venkidi and his lady love Janaki strive to realise their dreams. And, life is no different for the Kozhikode-based Durga Krishna too. She is all set to make her debut as Janaki, which she calls a dream role.  Says Durga: "Janaki is a very performance-oriented character. She is the backbone of Venkidi's tale. I think I am blessed to have got this role for my debut, that too with Prithviraj and a great crew. I couldn't have asked for more," Durga shares her excitement. A dancer, it was a stint at a Ms Malabar event that got her noticed. "I began receiving offers, but when I was asked to audition for Vimaanam, I gave my best. And, soon I was onboard," she adds.

She is not someone to fret in front of a camera, so Durga was least anxious and easily got under the skin of Janaki. "Then, it helped that I knew the script and dialogues by heart. After I was selected, I was asked to enact many sequences, which was like a workshop. So, metamorphosing into Janaki was not a strenuous task," she says.

But then Durga quickly adds that nothing prepared her for  Janaki's emotional journey.  "While I very much relate to Janaki, who is a normal village girl, like me, her emotional journey is not something that is easy to empathise with. That way, Vimaanam showed me a novel facet of life," says Durga. However, when she was asked to say more about Janaki and Vimaanam, Durga is tightlipped, yet she divulges that it is an intense love story as much as an inspirational flick.  "Vimaanam, as we all know, is about how Venkidi realises his long dream of flying. His lady love Janaki is with him as a pillar. But, the crux of the story is their romantic thread, about how their love traverses myriad terrains," she adds.

Durga is also excited about sharing screen space with Prithviraj. "I was quite confident until I had to share screen space with Prithviraj. That was the only time I got jittery. But, he is such a wonderful co-star and puts co-actors at ease. He would help me with scenes and was a constant source of encouragement," says Durga. Vimaanam, directed by Pradeep M Nair, will hit the screens during Christmas.  The movie also has Alancier Ley and Sudheer Karamana in significant roles. Vimaanam is produced by Listin Stephen under the banner of Magic Frames.
