She plays a mother in a Jayaram-starrer Akashamittai, but Iniya says she doesn't mind her onscreen age as long as the character is performance-oriented. "When a story is narrated to me, I don't look whether she has a child or not. My only issue is how meaty the role is. I have done that many times in Tamil and Malayalam and that will be my criterion in the future too," says Iniya.

She also ensures that she gives her best for the character. " For playing Radhika in Akashamittai, I gained extra pounds because  I wanted that matuared look," she says about her next project, Jayaram-starrer Akashamittai. The movie, directed by Samuthirakani and M Padmakumar, is the remake of the former's Tamil directorial venture Appa.

Though this is the first time she is associating with Samuthirakani, Iniya says that she has known him for long. "The irony is that Samuthirakani offered me both Appa and Nadodigal, but I couldn't make it due to date issues. So, when he called me for Akashamittai, I was overjoyed," says Iniya who had already seen Appa before signing Akashamittai.

On her character, she says: "Radhika is someone who we see around us a lot. A stubborn woman, she harbours an unhealthy obsession for her son's studies," she adds. The actor says she enjoyed working with Samuthirakani.  She says he is the kind of director who doesn't get worked up if the actors don't give the right take. "He is a chilled out person and briefs us about the character so well," says Iniya.

So, how was it working with Jayaram? "It was such a great experience. This is my first time working with him. I met him during Celebrity Badminton League, so, we knew each other well. He is a very experienced actor and I enjoyed working with him," says Iniya. The actor is also looking forward to the music video Mia that will release soon. "Mia is about finding an aim in life. The rendition is by Sayanora. It has a very strong message and we plan to release it this month," she adds.
