KOCHI: The Mass Media Department of the District Medical Office will organise a short film competition for college students. The major aim of the short film festival, with the theme “let the Girl child born and let her spread the light”, is to end gender discrimination.
The short films should carry the theme that determining the sex of the unborn child is a punishable offence as per the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition Of Sex Selection) Act (PCPNDT Act).
The short films should be a maximum of five-minute duration. The first, second and third prize winners will get Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. The students can take part in the competition individually or as a group. The entries should be submitted in Full HD format and the preview material should be submitted as DVD or in a pen drive.
The submitted short films should not contain any visuals or images from outside, which are copyright protected. The music track should not be taken from other sources. By submitting the entries, the makers should also certify that the Ernakulam Medical Officer will be given the right to screen the movie. The last date for submitting the entry forms is July 31. the completed short films should be submitted before August 16.
