There’s something seductive about dimples that instantly catch one’s eyes. And with her expressive chubby cheeks and dimpled smile she caught Malayalis’ attention in the remake of Bharathan’s ‘Parankimala’ where she essayed the role of ‘Thanka’. And now, Vinutha Lal is all set for her second Mollywood outing --  ‘Saaradhi’. She will be playing the female lead in the film, opposite Sunny Wayne. “It is a good matured role. My character in the film is very homely, unlike the glamorous character from my previous film,” says Vinutha, who began as a model before becoming an actor.

The film directed by Gopalan Manoj is a travel thriller. Ask her more about the movie and her character, Vinutha says, “The story revolves around an incident encircling my character.” In the film Sunny Wayne dons the role of an ambulance driver who is a carefree person having no commitments to anyone. His chance meeting with Vinutha while on a journey to transport a dead body to a high range area forms the crux of the story and Vinutha plays his love interest. Sreenivasan, Nedumudi Venu and Baiju also play key roles in the movie.

When normally actors shun away playing deglam characters, ask her what interested her to play such a role, she says, “I signed the film because of script which is different and nice.” She can be tagged a choosy actor while committing roles. Ask her about the M-Town debut, she says, “Right from childhood I was crazy about movies and dreamt of becoming an actor. Though I never thought of entering Mollywood,, my friends always said I have got Malayali looks and should try it. And it was a friend of mine who was in Chennai, who informed about ‘Parankimala’s audition. I applied and got through the screen test.”

The actor is excited about the rave reviews she is getting for ‘Parankimala’. “I am getting good response from the audience. Thankfully they are liking my performance,” says Vinutha. The charming Vinutha has grabbed yet another project, but she is tight-lipped about her third Mollywood project.

Interestingly Vinutha has joined the league of M-town actors who changes their name after entering the tinsel-town. The other day, she rechristened her name to Aswathi Lal. She says, “I am a May born and some of my friends told me that the name ‘Aswathi’ suits best according to my star sign.”
