Priyanka, the doting mother of two and wife to Upendra still brightens up the screen with her presence. The actress is busy with the production work for Uppi 2 and has also completed the talky portions for a film directed by Dinesh Babu, titled Priyanka. Ask her about her role in a film with her name, she says, “You have to ask the director why he opted to keep Priyanka. Though the title has my name, it doesn’t have anything to do with me personally. They thought the name Priyanka was linked to the story and I was okay with it.”
The talky portions of the film have been completed and they are now in Sakleshpur shooting the songs for the film. “When Dinesh came up to me with the subject, I thought they would start next year. But then he told me that he wanted to complete it in December and we started shooting in Bengaluru and now are wrapping up the songs,” says Priyanka, who in spite of her hectic schedule didn’t want to miss out on this film because of the exciting script. “It is a woman-centric film with an intense love story. I have watched Dinesh’s Amrutha Varshini and this will be a modern version of that subject. The film is realistically shot in a 8K resolution camera. It is not a glamorous film and is more about the strong performances. At this stage, getting different roles for me is important and I try and sign on films that I find interesting. This role fits in with my ideas. My character is a strong woman and not a regular housewife. She is very modern and the way she approaches life is depicted quite differently in the movie,” she explains.
The film sees hero Tejas of Oggarane fame, Prakash Rai, Veena Sunder and Shivadwaj along with Priyanka. Though she doesn’t share much screen space with Prakash Rai, she says, “We have worked in two films before this and it is nice to see him on the sets as he brings in a lot of energy.
On her return Priyanka will get busy with Uppi 2. “This is the first time in life, I am away from my kids. After New Year, we are going straight to the Himalayas shooting for Uppi 2 and I will be travelling with them,” says Priyanka. Right after that, she will be joining the sets of Mummy Save Me directed by Lohith.
