Can a movie with the name Mayabazar be as good as the old one? Did Shah Rukh’s Don reach up to the mark of Amitabh’s Don? Great stories seldom happen and when they do, they create history which cannot be recreated. That’s exactly what happens with this week’s release Jamba Lakadi Pamba. It cannot match up to the old one, which had flavours of feminism and fun. Well, Yashraj films got inspired by the movie and came up with Man’s world on Youtube. Does the new one have the same aura? Read on to know…

Varun played by Srinivas Reddy is a software professional and his wife Pallavi played by new girl Siddhi Idanani lead a happy marital life until insecurities and irritations pop between them.

Posani Murali Krishna is a divorce lawyer and his 100th case was Varun and Pallavi’s divorce. He meets with an accident in Goa and dies along with his wife. When he is entering heaven with his wife, God doesn’t let him go and asks him to pay for his sins of separating couples all his life. God played by Suman says he would let him enter if he goes back and patches up Varun and Pallavi. Posani lands on earth as a wandering soul and nags them to patch up. After understanding that they are not going to listen to him, he exchanges their genders just to make them understand what each person is going through. The gender change and how Posani drives them to get back together makes the rest of the story.

Srinivas Reddy does a good job with his body language as a woman. Neither does he overdo nor does he make it awkward. At a few places, Posani goes overboard with his dialogue delivery. Siddhi did manage to do a good job as an insecure wife, but couldn’t nail the part where she has to act like a man.

Last week’s release Sammohanam’s rejection with dignity scenes made the audience feel that Tollywood is heading towards progression but a few scenes in the movie, where Tanikella Bharani who plays the role of Varun’s dad throws the food made by Varun and tells him that he has to man up and not cook like woman in the kitchen and he also comments on Pallavi wearing jeans and Tshirts like men.

Why is that a man shouldn’t cook? How does it make him a less of a man? That’s regressive again. So we are fluctuating between progression and regression like petrol prices. With so many comedians in the movie, it was expected to be laughter riot but I could barely hear anyone laugh. In fact, I mastered the art of having a poker face. The music too was not too catchy or worth lending our ears to. It
