Minus 3 plus 1

Cast: Abhishek, Sasya, Century Gowda, Rama Krishna, Century Gowda

Director: Ramesh Yadav

A jumbled storyline with no lacking performances sums up Minus 3 plus 1. Son of Ambareesh, Abhishek, who played a prominent role in Thiti pulls-off the role of a hero and antagonist in Minus 3 plus 1, which also features Century Gowda in a cameo appearance. Ramesh Yadav’s directorial is the story about an obsessive lover Abhi (Abhishek), a househelp who is madly in love with the owner’s daughter, Sasysa (Sasya), a school student. Abhi’s love turns violent when he decided to kill anybody eyeing Sasya. While he himself shies away from expressing his feelings towards her, he often fantasises a life with her.

When he finally musters the courage to reveal his true feelings Abhi is in for a surprise. What follows is a violent and ridiculous turn with much bloodshed. Not everybody wielding the camera can be termed director, and it is definitely not everybody’s cup of tea. And it’s clear that direction is not Ramesh’s forte.
The innocence we saw in Abhishek in Thiti fades away in this film. As a protagonist, he shoulders the entire responsibility of handling the villain’s role. But, he doesn’t get anything right. In an urge to become a hero, he seems to have killed the character-artiste in him.

Sasya, who makes her acting debut barely has a role to play, besides running from one end to another. Ramakrishna and Padma Vasanthi, who play parents to Sasya have a blink-and-miss role, which is the same fate for many other actors too. Century Gowda renders some double-meaning dialogues, which does not go down well with the audience.

Following the cinema format, there are a couple of medleys by AT Ravish, and by his namesake cinematographer. Having catch the early show, we wouldn’t suggest the audience test their patience. In fact, we’re still trying to make the connection between the title and story. No food for thought, here.
