She made people sit up and take notice right from her debut in Poi Solla Porom. Now, post films like Aegan, Goa and Bale Pandiya, young actor Piaa Bajpai is set to take viewers by storm with an all new look in Ayan director KV Anand’s much-awaited film — Ko. The movie is all set for release soon and Piaa is one unit member who is super excited.

“Ko will showcase me in totally different light,” gushes Piaa. Explaining why she grabbed the role when it was offered by KV Anand, she says, “People are not going to notice my looks or my costumes in the film, but will fall in love with my character. KV sir said to me, ‘You can become a star any day, but it is rare for any actor to get such a role’. And that made me take the role immediately.”

The movie stars Jiiva and veteran actor Radha’s daughter Karthika. Talking about her hero, she says, “Jiiva is a great co -star. He believes in improvising during the take and our chemistry worked out really well. For every action he did, I would manage a suitable re-action.” Apparently Piaa has picked up a lot of Tamil in her short stint in Kollywood and is comfortable enough to follow the dialogues on the sets.

Ask her about her director, the reticent KV Anand, and she narrates an incident which touched her, “Usually I look for my director’s reaction after a shot. But I was baffled by KV sir since he would never react. But one day, he actually phoned me up and complimented me on my performance after seeing the rushes. Director Priyadarshan had once told me that KV sir never praised his heroines. So when this call came, I was over the moon! It was like receiving a National Award for me!”

Now the actor is waiting with bated breath for the audiences to react before she signs up her next in Kollywood. “So far my career graph has gone upwards with each film. My next will have to be bigger and better than Ko for me to take it up,” she concludes.
