Jingle Bells, a programme for 260 underprivileged children from 5 orphanages was held over the weekend at Spencer Plaza.

Organised by RAINDROPSS – a youth-based NGO from Chennai founded by Aravind Jayabal, the event saw the participation of music directors James Vasanthan and A R Raihanah. Leading playback singers Nikhil Mathew, Deepika Theagarajan, Aravind, Drummer Arun Nehru, dancers from Twist N Turn dance studio entertained the kids and made them shake their legs.

Between the hit songs and dancing, there was quite a lot of time for the kids to unfurl their talents through Christmassy games, seasonal carols and other fun activities.

The 260 children are from Seers Home, Karunai Illam, Atheeswarar Charitable Home, Mother’s Welfare and Sirumalargal. There were loads of gifts, singing and Christmas cheer going around, as the event unfolded on Saturday evening.

While Raihanah is the brand ambassador for the NGO and has been involved with their various programmes over the past couple of years, James Vasanthan was an active participant and made sure the kids had a gala time. As with all Christmas events, Santa is a mainstay, and even this evening ended with a local Saint Nick thrilling the kids.
