Aadhi has been in the news because rumours are rife that he is acting in a sequel to his debut film, Mirugam, his mentor Samy’s next film. Quizzed by City Express about these reports, Aadhi clarified, “I would love to work with director Samy since I have a lot of respect for him. He gave me a great break with Mirugam, but I am not doing any sequel. I don’t know how these rumours got around !”
But the actor admits that Samy did contact him recently, “Samy called me regarding a film. I said I would love to meet him and hear the script. However, he was going to start shooting in February and finish by March end. Unfortunately, I already have a project scheduled for that period and he couldn’t wait. We didn’t even discuss the story! So these reports are mere speculations!”
About the gap between Aravaan and his next film, he says, “I accepted Maranthein Manithen even though I am not the main protagonist because of close family ties with producer Lakshmi Manchu and Mohan Babu. Acting with Superstar Rajnikant in Kochadaiyaan is a dream come true. Also, being part of a pioneering motion capture technology film is a rare honour. But I am taking care to choose my next scripts and hence the delay.”
The actor has listened to dozens of scripts but is clear about his choices, “ I have begun enjoying the process of cinema and have developed a passion for it. But post Aravaan, though I got a lot of appreciation for my hard work, the film didn’t get me the desired success I was looking for. I’ve learnt now, that its not enough to just work hard. Along with a passion for cinema, working with a good team is equally important for a blockbuster. I am waiting for roles that look credible on me and at the same time, take me to the next level.”
In that direction, he promises that we will see a “completely different Aadhi,” in his next film.
