'Tamil films just happened to me'

Starting as a theatre artiste, she made a smooth shift to films and has dabbled in every possible genre and language of films. But Radhika Apte, who is all set for the release of her Tamil film All In All Azhagu Raja today, says that she never planned the exciting career she has had.

Visibly excited about the grand release, she says she wished she could be there to see the film hitting the screen on Deepavali. “I have heard that Deepavali release is a big affair here. But, due to prior work commitments, I am unable to do so,” she says.

Radhika adds that she had a great time shooting for the film as the cast and crew were very supportive.

“The director just gave me my space. I was informed about the preparations I had to do for the day’s shoot and I managed to rehearse my lines thoroughly. And, Karthi is such a great co-star. I have a role that is inspired by Revathi’s movies. She is one of the best actors of Indian cinema. I referred to lot of her clips to work on the role,” she adds.

But the actor, who made her foray into South cinema with Rakht Charitra, says that she is yet to get a hang of the language. “Language is no way a barrier. In future, if there are more roles in Tamil films for me, I would definitely make an attempt to learn the language,” she adds.

With films in Bengali, Marathi and Hindi, apart from Tamil, Radhika has a long list of projects lined up and is set for the release of Mountain Man  soon.

Looking back at the veering journey as an actor, Radhika says  the way it has shaped has been a surprise for her. “Today, when people ask me about the variety of roles, the languages I have worked in, as an actor, I really don’t know what to say. I have never planned to have it this way.”
