His films are among the most- anticipated ones by the movie buffs. In a short span of time, actor Vijay Sethupathi has carved a niche for himself with his choice of scripts and roles. Now, the actor is busy juggling schedules for his various films. His next Idam Porul Eval (IPE) is being directed by his mentor Seenu Ramasamy. The National Award-winning director, who had cast Vijay as a debutant in Thenmerku Paruvakaatru, is now teaming up again with him in IPE. The shoot is going on in full swing near Kodaikanal. Speaking to CE from the hilly environs, he gives us a peek into what his character is all about.

“I have hardly any dialogues in this movie. My dialogues may totally amount to just perhaps  half a page,” Vijay reveals.

He is quite excited about the whole idea. He gushes, “I play a silent type of character, who mainly observes things around him. So, I have to work a lot on my expressions instead. That’s the challenging and interesting part.”

Ask him about working with Seenu again and he says, “He is my guru, so it’s always wonderful to work with him. On the sets he gives me total freedom. In fact, he gave me a choice of three scripts and asked me to choose whichever I wanted. That’s how this movie came about.”

About 30 days of the shoot is over and Vijay has been shooting around the villages surrounding Kodaikanal, which include Poomparai, Padamputhur and Gundupatti.

“Vadivakkarasiamma has a major role. I have been shooting with her and Nanditha,” he adds.

Theepatti Ganesh of Renigunta fame has a key role. Ask him to throw some light on the story and he says, “The film is centered on a stranger, who comes to a small village in a hill station. The story is all about the observations we make and lessons gained from life experiences. It’s to do with forgiving sins and gaining love in the process. It’s a film with a mix of love, light and serious moments. There is a strong and beautiful message conveyed in the end.”

Vishnu, who has worked with Seenu in Neerparavai,  is set to join the unit soon. So does he play Vijay’s friend or brother, we are keen to know.

“No, Vishnu plays neither my brother nor friend!”replies Vijay, giving nothing away and keeping the suspense intact about the equation of the characters.

Vijay is extremely thrilled that Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music. What’s got him even more excited is a particular song.

“The melody has been composed by Yuvan with lyrics by Vairamuthu. It’s a soulful track and I just love that both have come together for a song in my film,” he signs off.
