'Kids only after delivering Kochadaiyaan'

In a rare display of sending a private message through a public forum, Superstar Rajinikanth blatantly told his daughter (and director) Soundarya to have kids and put them above making films. "I am very happy that my daughters are both making films and I want Aishwarya and Soundarya to make more films. But at the same time, I believe that they have to focus on raising a family. Women have more of a role to play in their families, because they should spend time with their children," he said during Kochadaiyaan's audio launch, much to his daughter's surprise.

While Soundarya, who married industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar in 2010, is yet to have children, her sister Aishwarya may have felt a tad safer as she and Dhanush have two sons. Until, Rajini added, "My request to my daughters is not to just have children but be with them because they need care up to 10-12 years. Have two children and raise them well. It is your duty to make them good citizens and human beings."

Responding to her father's 'staged' advice, Soundarya later said, "After my father has so publicly advised me to have children, I have to say that Kochadaiiyaan will be my first delivery. After that I will take his advice and start his family. I've spent two years on this film and it has been a constant journey, but one that my family, in-laws and husband have supported me with."

Rajini from Rana to Kochadaiiyaan:

I have always liked Raja-Rani stories and used to read ones that began with 'Once Upon A Time..'. Folklore is something that I hadn't done and that is why I began Rana, a story that had been running for 20 years in my mind.

Unfortunately, that's when I fell ill and for that story, I knew my body would not be able to facilitate the stress that it needed. The producers and my daughter then suggested that there was a way to make the movie without pushing the body and when they told me the story, I liked it more than Rana. I wanted to give Tamil people a return gift for all the love, though everyone said that it will take 5-6 years and 700-800 crores. I applaud the producers because they could have made a normal film we me and earned their money, but instead they chose to do this.

King Koch:

- Rajini has done three roles in the film. He plays Kochadaiiyaan, the father, and his sons, Rana and Sena

- The film was shot with motion-capture that uses 40 cameras to catch the movements of the actor wearing the sensor-laden-body-suit. There were no sets, combines scenes, crowds or costumes used thorough the length of the film

- The producers have offered theatre owners to convert their screens to 3D through UFO movies for a subsidised cost of Rs 2.5 lakh. It is expected that it will release in 3D on 150 screens and 2D on 350 screens in Tamil Nadu

- It is expected to release on April 11. The producers are planning special shows for kids as they will appreciate the film better and also get a taste of the Rajini mania
