A Horror Film With a Difference

Unnakenna Venum Sollu, a horror film that is gearing up to hit screens on September 17, has been garnering attention for various reasons.

While horror films with a generous dose of humour are now the flavour of the season, sources in the industry say that this will be one film to watch out for as it will not have humour but will deal with a number of issues including live-in relationships and the manner in which society treats women.

At a recent event held at Sathyam, the director of the film, Srinath Ramalingam, said,“I started my film education when I was 18. Now, I am 28 and  have managed to direct my first film.”  Srinath, who spent close to six years in the US doing odd jobs there, returned to Chennai after quitting his well-paying job in Singapore to make a film. Despite having been turned down by 40 producers, Srinath has succeeded in making the film. “When I was in the US, I lent my roommate Shanmughasundaram $300 and now, he has returned that favour by producing my film,” a grateful Srinath said.
