Pranab Presents Padma Award to Rajinikanth

President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday conferred India’s second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibushan, on superstar Rajinikanth, much to the delight of all his fans across the globe.

Several fans celebrated the honour bestowed on the actor. Not just fans but also his co-actors and family members expressed their delight at the star being honoured. Actor Dhanush, who also happens to be the superstar’s son-in-law, took to Twitter to express his happiness. He tweeted, “At every given point in his life he reached such gr8 heights wid his hardwork, perseverance nd humility. #deserved”(sic).

Actor Radhikaa Sarathkumar, who has acted in several films with the superstar, tweeted, “What an achievement, proud moment for all of us. Ur humility, perseverance PROUD” (sic). Rajinikanth left Chennai for New Delhi on Monday to participate in the award ceremony which was held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Before departing for Delhi, the actor told reporters present at the airport that his upcoming film Kabali, which has been directed by a young director Pa Ranjith, was likely to hit screens either in May or in June this year.
