Actor Vikram's Video Shows The True 'Spirit of Chennai'

Actor Vikram directed a video featuring people who helped during the floods. It will be on YouTube from today

Seeking to capture the altruistic and helpful nature of people who stood by each other during the great floods that struck Chennai last year, actor Vikram has come up with a video and song titled Spirit of Chennai.

Vikram directed the video, which features real life heroes who came to the rescue of those affected by the floods alongside top film stars from not just the Tamil film industry but also the Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi film industries. The video will be available on YouTube from today and will seek to celebrate humanity.

Speaking after a special screening of the video, Vikram said that he was inspired to come up with the concept after he witnessed an incident just after the rains. “What touched me was that despite being struck by such a calamity, the support we extended to each other and the way we overcame it was amazing. That spirit came across and I wanted to recognise it,” Vikram said and added, “I spoke to Giri about this and he scored the music for this song in just a day.”

Vikram said he couldn’t have done this without the support of his entire team, which includes lyricist Madhan Karky, cinematographers Vijay Milton and Om Prakash, music director Girinandh, his assistant directors and all the stars and people who are a part of the video. The actor spoke about a young kid, Siddharth, in particular, who takes centre stage in the video. Vikram said that the child, despite falling ill while shooting the video, bravely completed his portions. Siddharth was also introduced to the media as a child prodigy in mathematics on the occasion.
