Arya to Play a Tribal Next

The team has taken 250 acres of land in Kodaikanal on lease to shoot portions of the yet-to-be-titled film.

Arya, who recently participated in the trailer launch of Pokkiri Raja, was seen  sporting a new look. Sources confirm that this is the look he will sport in his next film to be directed by Raghavan, whose earlier film Manja Pai (2014)  was critically acclaimed. The film, to be produced by one of Tamil cinema’s most noteworthy production houses, Super Good Films, is yet to be titled.

Says a source in the industry, “Arya plays a tribal in his next film and Catherine Tresa plays the female lead in it. Yuvan Shankar Raja has been confirmed as the music director. Arya has been working out extensively to build his body for the role of a tribal. He has been working harder than even those aspiring for six-packs.”

The team, sources say, will begin shooting either from March 10 or March 18. “Work on the film is likely to begin on either of these days. The team will shoot in Kodaikanal. They have taken 250 acres of land there, on lease, just to shoot the film. Just like the team of Peraanmai (2009) shot the jungle sequences in Kerala, this team intends to shoot portions in Kodaikanal,” says another source.

As the team will shoot major portions on this private piece of land with dense foliage, they would have a difficulty in using their mobile phones, as the area doesn’t have cell phone towers. Says the source, “To overcome this, the filmmakers have requested telecom companies to build cell phone towers for mobile network during shooting. Four telecom companies seem to have agreed to the request, and will build the towers before shooting begins in March.”
