Years on

In news that will delight music fans, well-known lyricist Panchu Arunachalam will pen songs of the upcoming film Muthuramalingam. Music will be scored by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja.

Says a source close to the lyricist, “Panchu Arunachalam sir agreed after Ilaiyaraaja sir spoke to him and urged him to pen the songs. The two will be working together after 21 years.”

The film, Muthuramalingam, is being directed  by Rajadurai and will feature Gautham Karthik and Catherine Tresa in the lead, along with Prabhu, Suman, Radharavi, Vivekh, Sukanya, Rekha and Singampuli among others.

Points out the source, “It’s an important film...in the sense that, by writing the lyrics for this film, Panchu Arunachalam sir will earn the distinction of having written songs for films across three generations of heroes from the same family. He wrote the songs for Mayangugiral Oru Madhu for Muthuraman sir, then for En Jeevan Paaduthu and Chinna Kannama, which featured actor Karthik in the lead and now, Muthuramalingam for Karthik’s son Gautham who plays the lead in the film.”
