Chennai: Director Gautham Vasudev Menon escapes road accident

The director was heading towards the city in his Mercedes Benz at around 4 am when a lorry driving ahead of him took a turn and Menon, unable to control the car, rammed into the median.

CHENNAI: In yet another accident involving a celebrity, director Gautham Vasudev Menon allegedly rammed his car into the centre median at Chemammenchery during the early hours of Thursday.

The director was heading towards the city in his Mercedes Benz at around 4 am when a lorry driving ahead of him took a turn and Menon, unable to control the car, rammed into the median, said a police officer. He also confirmed that Menon was not under the influence of alcohol neither was he speeding.

Passers-by who witnessed the accident informed the police and a patrol team rushed to the spot. None were injured. A case has been registered with the Guindy traffic police and further details are awaited.

It may be noted that on September 21, Tamil actor Jai was booked by the police for drunk driving, after his car rammed into the side railing of the bridge at Adyar. 

GVM, as he is popularly known, has made several hit Tamil films inclduing Vaaranam Aayiram (2008), Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu (2006), Yennai Arindhaal (2015) and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016).
