In MGR’s centenary year, people will get to see a digitally restored version of the 1969 blockbuster Adimaippenn. After 48 years, the film, which had the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa as the heroine, is getting re-released by Sai Nagarajan of Rishi Movies. “MGR’s old films like Rickshawkaran (1971), Aayirathil Oruvan (1965) and Ulagam Sutrum Valiban (1973) were already re-released, and got a great response from the audience. The actor continues to be a phenomenon. The charm of watching old films again on big screens is different,” says Nagarajan.
The film is special for two more reasons as Jayalalithaa crooned the lyrics Amma endral anbu... written by Vaali. Also, SP Balasubramaniam made his debut in this film with Aayiram Nilave Vaa, that had music score by K V Mahadevan. Directed by K Shankar, the film was produced by RM Veerappan.
