After playing a blind person in Cuckoo (2014), Malavika Nair did films in Malayalam and Telugu. She has now signed her next titled Arasiyal-la Idhellam Saadharanamappa directed by debutante filmmaker Avinash Hariharan. She tells CE, “I didn’t find anything interesting in Tamil; so I concentrated on Telugu cinema. It feels good to be back.”

In Arasiyal-la... she’s paired opposite Veera of Rajathandhiram (2015) fame. “It’s a political satire. We’ll be shooting in Puducherry from today. I’ll be with the team for four days and will join again in April,” she adds.

Though Malavika is interested in films, her priorities are painting and reading. “I want to pursue a Fine Arts degree in Shantiniketan. When I am not occupied with films, I paint,” she smiles adding  she got commercial films before she bagged Yevade. “I was impressed when Raju Murugan narrated Cuckoo’s story. After that, only the script of Arasiyal-la... looked convincing,” she says.
Malavika, who’s comfortable with Telugu, wants to do films in Malayalam as well. “I’d love to do films that push me out of my comfort zone and challenge me. When I did films in Telugu, I made sure that I didn’t sound like a Keralite. I always put my 100% in any character that’s given to me,” she shares.
