Shruti thrilled about meeting Neil Gaiman

Shruti Haasan, who is currently at the Cannes Film Festival to promote her period film, Sangamithra, met Neil Gaiman, best known for writing American Gods.

Kamal Haasan shared the picture of the duo on his Twitter page, and wrote, “My baby in Cannes with her other hero, Neil Gaiman. Glad to be in august company.”

A source says that the writer is one of Shruti’s all-time favourites. “She follows his work extensively, and they had a chance to connect sometime ago over Twitter. When Neil realised Shruti was in Cannes, he invited her to attend the premiere of the film How to Talk to Girls at Parties as one of his special guests.”
Neil has even said he’d pen a musical if it stars Shruti.

He said, “She’s a huge fan of my writing, and has sent me lots of clips, both of her work in films and music, and of things and performers she thought I should see or would enjoy. And I, in turn, have sent her books and things to read ahead of the crowd.

She’s a delight—smart and grounded, and her music is remarkable.” Speaking about attending the premier on Neil’s invitation, Shruti says, “I was super happy and loved the film.”
