It is popular news now that actor-lyricist Arunraja Kamaraj will be debuting as a director with a sports film based on women’s cricket, and that the film will be produced by his longtime friend, Sivakarthikeyan. The shooting for the film, which has Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead, commenced on Monday.

Arunraja, who says he shares an “emotional connect” with Sivakarthikeyan, adds, “We were looking out for female cricketers who could act, but we couldn’t find anyone who could do justice to the role. So, considering that it’s a script based on lot of emotions, we decided to go with Aishwarya Rajesh. We’re training her in the sport. The first schedule is currently underway at Lalgudi, Trichy.”

Sivakarthikeyan, in a press statement, said, “Arunraja, Dhibu and I studied in the same college, and hail from the same city (Trichy). So this makes the choice of location for the first day’s shoot important. I’m confident of delivering a film that’s rich in content and values.”The film stars Sathyaraj as Aishwarya’s father in the film, while Rama (who played Karthi’s mother in Madras), will play her mother. Ilavarasu is also a part of the film, which will star a newbie, Darshan, in a pivotal role. The untitled project has Dinesh Krishnan, Dhibu Ninan Thomas and Antony L Ruben as the DOP, music director and editor, respectively.
