It may have seemed like history is repeating itself, with trouble threatening to derail Vijay's Pongal release Jilla, a day before it's release on Friday. But Jilla's producer R B Chaudary is not 'unduly worried' that a rival producer has filed a petition at the Madras High Court seeking a stay order on the films release as he had allegedly registered the same film title 6 years ago.

In fact, ageing veteran Chaudary is more concerned about getting the tax exemption certificates and necessary clearances on Thursday. "There is a lot of activity at the office now as they are working hard to ensure that the commercial tax department give them the necessary certificates. This (petition) is not a major concern for the producer now. He is very certain that the movie will have a wide release on Friday, especially as trade reports from the Middle East have been promising," said a source close to the producer.

Jilla is clashing head on with Ajith's Veeram and is reportedly premiering on over 1000 screens globally. Fanfare is at an all-time high as Ilayathalapathy (Vijay's sobriquet) fans have even erected an 80-feet high cut-out of the actor at Pilot Theatre in Royapettah.

Vijay's last release Thalaivaa was delayed a night before it's scheduled release, by almost 20 days and fetched a considerable loss in profit for the producer Chandraprakash Jain, owing to rampant piracy and lack of screens. This time around, producer R Mahendran of Soumita Sri Arts has petitioned the HC saying that 'Jilla' is a title that he registered with the Producers Council for the dubbed version of a Telugu film that he had made with Prakashraj in 2008.

Indications in legal circles are that the case will in all probability be dismissed, with the hearing scheduled at 3 pm.
