Barely a week after strong rumours did the rounds that the makers of Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan were reluctant to release the film, sources close to the actor have confirmed that the film’s audio and soundtrack will release in September.

In news that will bring much cheer for thousands of the Superstar’s fans across the state, Kochadaiyaan’s audio launch will be the signal that the movie itself will release by November, or at least on his birthday, December 12.

“The soundtrack is ready for launch and the dubbing has been completed. There was talk that Rajini was not happy with a few aspects of the film during post-production, but those things have been ironed out,” said the source.

Amid reports that the audio launch for the multi-lingual flick will be held in Tokyo, a spokesperson for the actor said, “Work is on to get all the posters and publicity material out by August 15. This is the first time that the production team is looking to take the visuals of the period film public, after the initial rushes,” he said.

Shot with motion-capture technology and to be released in at least five languages, Kochadaiyaan is a period film that has been directed by the Superstar’s younger daughter Soundarya. The film pairs Rajini with Deepika Padukone and has been in the works for almost two years now. Though initially slated to release mid-2012, production delays and the actor’s ill health contributed to its delay. The shooting finally commenced last year and was completed in a studio in England as well as in Kerala. This will be Rajini’s first release after the box-office success Endhiran (The Robot) in 2010.

Needless to say, scores of the actor’s fans have been anxiously waiting for the film to release, as it was rumoured to be among his last projects.
