News that has surprised and shocked many, Nayanthara has opted out of Lingusamy’s next venture, putting an abrupt full stop to her nine-digit salary per movie! And Nayan’s loss has been Trisha’s gain and the Sarvam girl has now bagged the role to play Karthi’s love interest.

Paiyya is director Lingusamy’s next venture and has Karthi in the lead. This will be his third film, after Paruthiveeran and Aayirathil Oruvan . Nayanthara was then roped as the heroine, and Lingusamy had announced that she indeed had been paid a whopping crore for the film.

However, due to the actresses’ plummeting popularity, it is learnt that she was asked to reduce her pay to Rs 75 lakhs, which she flatly refused, and so opted out of the project.

Meanwhile, Trisha, whose industry rivalry to Nayanthara dates back to the times when both did the catfight to play Vijay’s pair in Kuruvi , has bagged the role. Trisha had earlier played Lingusamy’s heroine in Ajith starrer Ji and Vikram starrer Bheema. She will now be Karthi’s heroine in the movie.
