Actor Viji Chandrasekhar is on cloud nine for all the praise that her comeback film 'Aarohanam', directed by actor Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, has garnered from industry veterans.

“Balu Mahendra sir said he would send me a letter with his feedback, while Balachander sir said my eyes reminded him of my sister Saritha in his film 'Agni Satchi',” she says.

Viji debuted in Balachander’s 'Thillu Mullu', in which she played Rajinikanth’s sister, and was last seen on the big screen in Mani Ratnam’s 'Ayidha Ezhuthu', in which she played the role of actor Krishna’s sister, who stands in the elections. She has done a couple of serials as well.

“I wanted to work in a short film and that’s when Lakshmi narrated the script of 'Aarohanam',” she says. In the movie, Viji plays a vegetable vendor affected by bipolar disorder and calls it the role of a lifetime.

Viji is all praise for her director. “I didn’t do any homework for this movie. I would just go to the shooting spot and do what Lakshmi asked me to. She was clear about what she wanted from me and would fight to get it,” she says.

Except for the few important roles in the film, Viji says the supporting cast was picked up from the shooting spots directly.

Viji is also a part of the serial Azhagi, which is telecast on Sun TV. A mother of two girls and the wife of a pilot, Viji says her acting career has just taken off and hopes to have a long run ahead.
