'I'm Lucky to Work in Different Industries'

HYDERABAD: She’s been one of the busiest actors in Tollywood and Kollywood. Now, the charming beauty, Tamannaah, is looking at a long innings in Bollywood too, with Humshakals releasing on June 20. But that doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing less of her down South. With films in Telugu and an Arya starrer in Tamil, she’s going full steam ahead. In a chat with City Express, she reveals that she wants to do the maximum possible films in all three languages.

Post the Ajith starrer Veeram, tell us about your next Tamil film.

I’m doing a film directed by Rajesh and pairing up with Arya. This is my first film with both of them and i’m excited. It will be an interesting combination. The film is a rom com. I will begin shooting for it soon.

What’s your role in it?

Once I start shooting, only then can I reveal more details. The exact look of the character is still being finalised. But it will be something fresh and untried for me.

Now that you are busy in Hindi as well, what are your plans for the south? Are you taking it slow?

I’ve been working non-stop for several years now. I’m very lucky to be working in so many industries. And I have no intention of limiting myself to any one of them. In fact, I definitely want to do more Tamil films.

However, I want to do roles that I haven’t done before, and are pleasant! I’m not consciously planning anything. But I’m definitely not taking things slow! In fact, I want to do the maximum amount of work possible in all three industries.

What are your projects in Telugu?

I have Aagadu and Bahubali coming up.

Your career in Hindi, seems all set to take off with two films releasing this year. The hype around Humshakals is huge and one song is already a chartbuster. Can you tell us more?

Yes! Humshakals, a comedy, directed by Sajid Khan, is releasing on June 20, with Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta. I play a VJ. It’s a very energetic character. Then, my film with Akshay Kumar called Its Entertainment is releasing in August. So I’m quite excited!

How was it working with Saif, Ritesh and Ram Kapoor?

They were all very sweet to me. But they were complete pranksters and loved to pull my leg! I became a boy  in their company! Once Riteish bet me 10 Pounds to commit the same mistake in a second take. Though it made Sajid mad, I took the bet and won it! The money is safely in my wallet and makes for a good memory !

Is there anything in particular you had to do differently after entering Bollywood?

Yes! I had to get used to dieting!
