‘Generous of Taapsee to sign my film’

It was out of intuition director Mahi Raghav pitched the story of his next film to Taapsee, and at that time he didn’t even have a producer on board. It took over a year to finally put together the project and have Taapsee officially sign it. All set to go on the floors from January next year, Raghav feels it was really generous of Taapsee to accept his offer.

“It was last December (2015) when I pitched the story to Taapsee. I narrated the script on phone and she liked what she heard but asked me to come back after trying all other options. Seriously, I didn’t have anyone else in mind,” Raghav said.

In the next five months, he locked the final draft of his script and even managed to find a producer. “Even while I was busy finding a producer, she was always in touch, and seemed interested throughout which was a very encouraging sign. Then, Pink released and she won a lot of praise for her performance. I assumed she’d get busy in Bollywood, and may not do my film. But when she agreed to be part of the film, it was really generous of her. It takes a lot of faith from an actress like her to believe in the project, even though there’s not much to offer her from our side,” he added. Centered on Taapsee, the film is a horror-comedy but it’s unlike anything Telugu audiences have seen so far, assures Raghav.
