Three years ago when Seerat Kapoor made her Tollywood debut with Run Raja Run, she was among the most sought after newcomers in the industry; however, her subsequent films – Tiger and Columbus, didn’t quite make the buzz to propel her to stardom. It wasn’t until late 2016 that her name resurfaced once again. This time, she’s attached to a film – Raju Gari Gadhi 2 – that just seems to get bigger and bigger.

Directed by Ohmkar, the film has Seerat playing one of the central characters, along with Nagarjuna. And recently, Samantha came onboard for another role in the horror comedy, which is fast becoming one of the most talked about films of the season.

Ask Seerat about how she ended up being a part of the film, she recalls a conversation which she had with Ohmkar, the director of Raju Gari Gadhi 2, before she said ‘yes’ to the offer. “I was quite humbled when Ohmkar told me that he had me in mind when he wrote the script. I’m just three films old as an actress and I wasn’t expecting that someone would say this to me so soon. It would have felt more organic if someone had told me the same thing few years later when I had a lot more films to my credit.

It felt great that he thought I would be perfect for the role,”Seerat reveals, without getting too much into details. “I can’t tell you much about the film at the moment, but this is the most glamorous I’ve looked in a film and unlike anything I’ve done so far. And I can’t wait to start shooting with Nagarjuna sometime later this month.”

Admittedly, she’s a big fan of the horror genre. “I love the thrill of horror films. I still remember being spooked after watching John R. Leonetti’s Annabelle couple of years ago. Having said that, I’m open to acting in all kinds of films. I don’t want to deprive myself of opportunities by sticking to a select few genres. And horror works, doesn’t it?” she says.

What’s even more interesting is the story behind how she landed in the film itself and it all began with an aerial dance performance at an awards ceremony, held in 2016, in Hyderabad.“A day before the event, while I was rehearsing, I suffered a bad fall. Only the choreographer had a harness and I had to balance my weight on him. Just three minutes before we were about to wrap up, his hook opened up and before I knew it, I had hit the floor. I blanked out for hours altogether and soon after I woke up, I was rushed to the hospital to get an MRI scan done. Thankfully, everything was alright. When I got back, the team asked me if they could scrap the whole act and do something else, but I was adamant that we should stick the plan. After all, we had rehearsed so much to do this aerial dance, which was a first at an awards ceremony in Hyderabad,”Seerat elucidates.

The day the awards show was aired on TV, Prasad V Potluri, the producer of the film, happened to watch her performance and he was so impressed that he asked Ohmkar to bring Seerat onboard.
