Once I and my family were on a long drive to Coorg from Nisargadama forest guest house. We took off to Madikeri early morning at 6 am. Two parent elephants and a baby elephant were nudging past the foot hill and we saw a car stop by. I couldn’t see clearly as there was mist. I crossed the other vehicle and moved forward when I saw these gigantic creatures. I did not realize the danger and thought I can slowly pass by without disturbing them. But as the car neared them the mother elephant felt threatened and rushed towards the car. I was shell shocked and had to rev up the engine but couldn’t meet the speed of the elephant. But we did manage to escape admist thundering roars by the elephant waking up the sleeping forest.
Camping or staying in hotels
Depends. We have gone on trips where there were times we had to make do with living in the car itself for lack of amenities.
A trip to Rohtang on bike from Delhi alone. On the way back I was empty with money and had no choice but to sleep on the foot path for the night in Chandigarh as I was very tired to drive.
