As the multi-starrer film Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda (PPT) hits theatres today, the makers presented a confident and positive approach before its release, calling it a fresh, family entertainer that will blow the audience away.

Directed by Sriwass, the movie features an ensemble cast led by Dr Mohan Babu, along with sons Manchu Vishnu and Manchu Manoj, Tanish, Varun Sandesh, Hansika, Raveena Tandon and Pranitha.

Family Entertainer

With popular comedians like Brahmanandam, Ali and MS Narayana among others, PPT promises to be a laugh riot. “I’m really looking forward to this film with great anticipation. Each film is like a pregnancy;  we nurture it like a child and we have no idea as to how it will behave when it comes out. However, we have received great reviews from the people we have shown this film to and are hoping to see a similar reaction from the audience,” said Vishnu, who is also the co-producer of the film.

“Brahmanandam plays a key-role in  this film, he is absolutely hilarious. Some of his scenes with Manoj is bound to leave the audience in splits.

Also, Kataraju  (Supreeth) is the surprise package of the film. His role will certainly leave an impression on the audience,” he added.

Given the title of the movie, one may be under the impression that it is a mythological-themed film, what with much talk about Manchu Manoj’s Brihnala avatar. But director Sriwass refutes this and says, “This is not a mythological film. It is a family entertainer and has five heroes, who will play the five Pandavas. Comedy is something which appeals to everybody and  this movie has plenty of it. I think most of the youth today look forward to a film which has more comedy, so I’m sure they will enjoy this film,” he said.

Veteran Returns

Produced by Manchu Vishnu and Manchu Manoj, the film also marks the return of industry veteran, Dr Mohan Babu, who will be sharing the screen with both his sons for the first time. “The only hero in this film is my father, Mohan Babu. The rest of  us are just added package,” says Vishnu.  Agreeing, director Sriwass was all praise for the 61-year-old actor, saying he was honoured to be able to work with him.

“I felt scared when I was entrusted with the job of making such a prestigious project with Mohan Babu and his  family. The film has been made on a budget of `30 crore and involves a lot of different characters. However, Mohan Babu eased the pressure on me with his unadulterated support. He has put in a tremendous performance and the amount of hard work he puts in even at this age is phenomenal,” said Sriwass.

Though, the movie is officially produced by his two sons Vishnu and Manoj, the Padmashri award winner was equally involved in the production of the film. “Mohan Babu was very actively involved with the production of the film. He was concerned about every minute detail. This helped me a lot since we were able to put together a complete package with his support,” he added.

The ‘Lady’

Another unique aspect of this film is the character of actor Manchu Manoj. The 30-year-old will be essaying the role of woman  in the movie and the makers insist that it is one of the most interesting and entertaining characters. “After watching this film, I can safely say that Manoj will walk away with the show. I am proud of him, not just as a brother but also as an  actor. I don’t think that I could have done the role which he did. He did a fantastic job,” said Vishnu.

Playing a woman is no easy feat and it requires hours of practice. Also, fitting into the various female costumes can be a challenging task for any man. “Manoj plays an extremely entertaining character. I was initially scared to approach him with this role, since I thought he might object to playing a woman. However, after reading the script, he instantly agreed to do  it. We were very careful with this character. Since he played a woman, we had to make sure we had the right make-up to make it seem as genuine as possible. We are delighted with the outcome as we have made it appear as a very genuine character,” shared Sriwass.

Fighting Piracy

One of the most worrying issue for any producer in the film industry is piracy. Last year, the Pawan Kalyan-starrer  Attarintiki Daredi was subject to piracy as parts of the film was illegally released on the internet. To address this issue, the  producers of PPT have decided to release the movie overseas on the internet with a pay per view system.

“We are all aware of the problems faced due to piracy in the industry. It is a completely different ball game. Hence, we decided to change our game and play by theirs. After discussing the issue, we have decided to release the film online on  February 3 on Zingreel.com and the users can watch it by paying $7 with their credit card,” said Vishnu. However, the online release is addressed towards the overseas market only and is not available in India.

“The film will not be available online in India and the US. We have a large market in Europe and South America, so this is mainly to target that audience. The film will be available with English subtitles,” he added. The online version will be available two weeks from today.
