India facing worst water crisis in history

Putting a spotlight on the grim outlook on the water quality in the country, NITI Aayog stated that about 70 per cent of the water in the country is contaminated and about two lakh people die every year due to inadequate access to safe water. The think tank panel noted that currently about 600 million Indians face high to extreme water stress and predicted that 40 per cent of India’s population will have no access to water supply by 2030.
