But the movie shows Mahavir Singh Phogat tricked and being locked up in a room unable to watch Geeta's final match.

Mahavir Singh Phogat's wife Daya Kaur was hoping for a male child: The movie showed that it was Mahavir Singh Phogat played by Aamir Khan desperate for a male child who will bring an international gold medal. However, according to the Mahavir Singh Phogat's biography 'Akhaadaa,' it was his wife Daya Kaur who wanted a boy.

Geeta Phogat had won a tournament prior to 2010 Commonwealth Games: Dangal depicted how Geeta Phogat had not won any major tournament prior to the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games but in reality Geeta had won a gold medal in the high profile Commonwealth Wrestling Championship in Jalandhar in 2009.

Geeta Phogat did not have an 'evil' coach : To add more drama to the movie, Dangal went on to portray the mean streak in the coach P R Sondhi played by Girish Kulkarni at the National Sports Academy.

Geeta Phogat's Commonwealth Games final against Emily Australia's Bensted was not a nail-biting match: The movie depicted the wrestling match to be a roller-coaster one with both Geeta and Emily taking the lead at some point in the game. The movie displayed Geeta winning the match by a narrow score line of 5-1, 4-6, 6-5, but in the actual match, Geeta dominated the entire match and won the Commonwealth Games gold medal with the score 1-0, 7-0.

Aamir Khan starring Dangal may have entered the Rs 100- crore club. However, one of the most hyped yet entertaining films of 2016 did have some fictional touches and had some scenes that were different from the lives of the Phogat sisters.
