Born in Houston on 4 September as Beyonce Giselle Knowles, singer-writer-dancer Beyonce is one of the best selling artists in history. Here are 10 rare facts about Queen Bee.
Beyonce has sold around 100 million records as a solo artist and a 60 million records as part of the group Destiny's Child, making her one of the best-selling music artists in history.
Beyonce became the first artist to have their first six studio albums debut at number on the US Billboard 200 chart in 2016 with 'Lemonade'.
The Houston born singer has won a whopping 22 Grammy Awards and is the most nominated woman in the Grammy history. With 24 wins, she is also the most awarded artist at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Beyonce has proven herself be a businesswoman as well as being one of the most successful musicians. She found the clothing line, House of Dereon with her mother Tina Knowles and has launched a many fragrances including Heat and Pulse.
Beyonce champions LGBT rights and highlights feminism on her shows. While talking about same-sex marriage the singer had famously said: 'If you like it you should be able to put a ring on it.'
Beyonce is the first non-Hispanic person to make People en Español’s list of the 50 Most Beautiful Latinos.
Beyonce and husband Jay Z's recently born twins are named Rumi and Sir. The coupled revealed that the baby girl has been named after their favourite poet, Rumi. About the boy, Jay Z says, 'Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir.”
The couple also has another daughter, Blue Ivy, born on 7 January 2012.
In 2010, Guinness World Records named Beyonce and Jay-Z the Highest Earning Power Couple, after earning $122 million that year.
Barack Obama's wife, Michelle and Beyonce's friendship started when the singer attended the President's inauguration in 2008. The two appreciates each others' work in the field of education and women empowerment. Beyonce had collaborated with Michelle's campaign 'Let's Move' which had tackled childhood obesity. Recently, a fan page, TheBeyHiveTeam, in twitter had released a video of them hanging out at the singer's birthday bash.
Beyonce fired her father Matthew Knowles in 2011, who was her manager for two decades. Reportedly, the reason was Matthew had fathered a child, Koi Knowles, when he was still married to Tina Knowles. In a documentary, Beyonce confessed that “My soul has been tarnished”.
