Glamour, glitz and fame: Glimpses from Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week 2018

The Summer-Resort edition of Lakme Fashion Week started on Wednesday with the five-day fashion gala promising some of the best names from the fashion world as well as Bollywood, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sushmita Sen and Kriti Sanon, walking the ramp. Label Ritu Kumar's 'Hip Hop Baroque' collection was presented with a lot of vim and vigour. There were colours and prints mixed in vibrant hues and patterns and there were 90s DIY punk directions that will appeal to the young swinging dressers. In collaboration with Lakme Salon, some of the collections were inspired by the current generation's uncontrollable urge to overthrow the establishment and defeat the suffocating norm with their alternative vision of the world. Padma Raj Keshri, Helena Bajaj Larsen, Mohammed Mazhar, Ayushman Mitra and Anvita Sharma along with Asit Barik are some of the young names in the design world who want to change the way fashion is perceived in India. They are the winners of the 25th Gen Next batch for Lakmé Fashion Week's Summer Resort 2018 edition.
