RK Nagar bypoll returns: Let's have a look at the nominees this time

The seat of R K Nagar has been lying vacant following the death of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in December 2016, who represented it for two terms, and the byelection for which is scheduled to take place on December 21.

P Jayaraman, a 42-year-old farmer, who chose to arrive in his occupational garment, from buying nomination papers, saying he was not “dressed properly”.  After arguments, policemen escorted Jayaraman to a garment shop where he had to buy a shirt and put it on. Only then he was allowed into the zonal office to buy the nomination papers. Jayaraman finally managed to file his nomination papers as an independent. (Photo | EPS)
