Nehru to Vajpayee: Here's the list of Indian PMs who faced no-trust motions

India has seen 27 no-confidence motions including today. Here's a timeline of previous no-confidence motions, who faced them and what was the result.

The first no-confidence motion was moved during the third Lok Sabha in 1963 when Jawaharlal Nehru was the Prime Minister. The motion was moved by former Congress and Praja Socialist Party leader Acharya J B Kripalani. Nehru won that vote by a huge margin of 285 votes. Between 1964 and 1975, there was a record 15 no-confidence motions against the congress, all of which were defeated. Three were against Lal Bahdur Shastri and 12 against Indira Gandhi. Indira faced three more no-confidence motions in 1981 and 1982 thus making the only prime minster to face a total of 15 no-trust votes. (File | PTI)
