Much like the beautiful clothes he crafts, couturier Suneet Varma has unleashed his superlative aesthetics in his new collection of accessories for steelware brand, Arttd’inox. Inspired by the beautiful fauna and magical elements of a dreamy enchanted forest, the designs focus on twigs, dragonflies and floral elements, making the products veritable showpieces.

Says Varma, “Much like my couture, I wanted the home collection to delve on the mystique with elements of surprise and enchantment. I don’t steer far from the DNA of my design philosophy. For my clothes, I retain a sense of dreamy and magical opulence, laced by the aura of seduction. This permeates into the home designs as well. It’s also been true for my design collaborations with Swarovski for jewellery and Judith Leiber for clutches.”

The new line for the premium stainless steel brand comprises condiment servers, ice buckets with wooden lids, two and three-tiered cake platters and candelabras. “Even though it is the most durable material, stainless steel is also a very hard material to work with. It is widely used in making utensils, for construction in architecture and other industries.

This is my way of paying homage to it and elevate it to a luxurious spot by marrying it with cast brass as well as gemstones. It’s not an easy process but an exciting one. Because, Arttd’inox has always amalgamated function with design, my aesthetics resonated with them. Even though my collection is decorated and whimsical, it’s functional and user-friendly,” says Varma. While he made samples in hues of red, white, black and cobalt blue, he retained the reds for the final pieces.

Targeting young urban clients who love to adorn their homes with beautiful handcrafted products, Varma is upbeat about the new collection doing well during this holiday and gifting season. “We have kept in mind those who have a sense of aesthetic and understand design. It’s the holiday season worldwide and special gifting is a big part of the product planning. This line has been launched in London and Dubai as well and is moving fast.”
